Cookies Settings
Effective Date: November 15, 2025
Important: LexEcho Does Not Use Traditional Cookies
LexEcho does not use HTTP cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics.
Instead, we use browser local storage and device-based storage to provide offline-first AAC functionality.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to remember information about your visit. Common uses include:
- Remembering login sessions
- Tracking user behavior for analytics
- Personalizing content and advertisements
- Enabling third-party features (social media widgets, ads)

What We DO NOT Use
- No Tracking Cookies: No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking
- No Advertising Cookies: No third-party ad networks or retargeting pixels
- No Social Media Cookies: No embedded Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram widgets
- No Cross-Site Tracking: Your data stays isolated to LexEcho only
Essential Storage (Cannot Be Disabled)
LexEcho requires local storage to function. This storage is essential for:
- Offline Functionality: The app must work without an internet connection
- Child Profile: Remembering your child's name, preferences, and custom tiles
- Communication Logs: Recording tile usage for IEP reporting
- Play Progress: Tracking educational game advancement
- Parent Mode: Maintaining PIN-protected access to settings
Disabling local storage will prevent LexEcho from functioning. If you clear browser storage, all local data will be lost (unless synced to cloud).
Third-Party Services
While we don't use cookies, we do integrate with these services:
OpenAI Vision API (Optional)
- When Used: Only when you choose to use the Photo-to-Tile AI feature
- Data Sent: Images you upload for tile creation
- Cookies: OpenAI may use cookies on their website, but not within LexEcho
- Privacy Policy: https://openai.com/privacy
Neon PostgreSQL (Cloud Backup)
- When Used: Automatically when your device is online
- Data Stored: Backup copy of your profile and communication logs
- Cookies: None - this is a backend database service
- Privacy Policy: https://neon.tech/privacy-policy

- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
