SensesHub Corporation ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how LexEcho collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Child Profile Data: Name, age, region, skin tone preference, voice style preference (higher/lower pitch), routines, favorite foods, and preferred scenes
Custom Content: Photos and labels for custom communication tiles
Communication Logs: Records of tile usage for IEP reporting (tile label, scene, function type, timestamp)
Play Module Progress: Level, correct answers, total attempts for educational games

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

Device Information: A unique device ID is generated and stored locally to isolate your data on your specific device
Usage Data: Communication frequency, streak tracking for motivation

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

Provide and personalize the AAC communication experience
Generate IEP-ready reports for educational and therapeutic purposes
Track progress through the Play & Learn educational module
Enable motivation features (streaks, celebration animations)
Analyze photos using OpenAI Vision API to suggest tile labels (optional feature)

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Offline-First Architecture

LexEcho is designed with an offline-first approach:

Local Storage: All child profile data and progress is primarily stored locally on your device using browser local storage and Capacitor Preferences API
Cloud Sync (Optional): When online, data is synchronized to our secure PostgreSQL database for backup and cross-session persistence
Full Offline Functionality: The app works completely offline without requiring an internet connection

3.2 Device-Based Isolation

Your data is isolated per device - no data is shared between devices
No user accounts or passwords are required
Data remains private to your specific device

3.3 Security Measures

Parent mode protected with PIN (default: 1234, user-changeable)
Encrypted HTTPS connections for all cloud synchronization
Database hosted on secure Neon PostgreSQL infrastructure

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 OpenAI Vision API (Optional)

When you use the Photo-to-Tile feature:

Images are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis to suggest communication tile labels
This feature is entirely optional - you can create custom tiles manually
Images are not stored by us or OpenAI after analysis

4.2 Neon PostgreSQL (Cloud Storage)

When online, data is synced to Neon's secure PostgreSQL database

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

When using optional features (OpenAI Vision API for photo analysis)
As required by law or to protect our rights

6. Children's Privacy

LexEcho is designed for use by children ages 3-10 with communication needs. We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act):

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent
Parents/guardians control all data entry through parent mode (PIN-protected)
No advertising or third-party tracking is present in the child-facing interface
Child data is stored locally and can be deleted at any time by the parent/guardian

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

Access: View all data stored in the app through parent mode
Delete: Clear browser storage or uninstall the app to remove all local data
Export: Download IEP reports as CSV files
Opt-Out: Avoid using optional cloud-dependent features (Photo-to-Tile AI analysis)

8. Data Retention

Local Data: Retained until you clear browser storage or uninstall the app
Cloud Data: Retained indefinitely for backup purposes unless you request deletion
Communication Logs: Retained for IEP reporting purposes - can be cleared manually

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

Posting the new policy within the app
Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document
